UPDATE: Loyola canceled classes beginning at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4 and will resume operations Wednesday, Sept. 5.

 

Loyola will remain open on Tuesday, Sept. 4 and continue normal operations, despite Tropical Storm Gordon.

Chief Todd Warren, director of safety, sent out an email to the Loyola community Monday, Sept. 3 afternoon giving an update on the status of classes and operations on Sept. 4.

We will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide additional information to the Loyola community as warranted throughout the day tomorrow.” said Warren in the email. “We encourage everyone to use a “safety first” mentality when you commute to and from campus during this event and any other inclement weather event we encounter.”

Several school districts in southern Louisiana, including New Orleans, have cancelled classes at the elementary and high school levels for Tuesday, Sept. 4.

The City of New Orleans has also issued voluntary evacuation in areas outside the levee. According to a press release from New Orleans Mayor Latoya Cantrell, residents should prepare for heavy rain, heavy winds and possibly power outages.
