The Wolf Pack have won two straight conference games and looked to carry that momentum into the game yesterday against the College of Coastal Georgia.

Loyola came out strong in the first half leading by as much as 14 points. That lead slowly diminished as the Mariners began to chip away at the lead and went into half time trailing by seven.

Coastal Georgia came out of the half ready to play and gained the lead on the pack during the first minutes of the second half.

Struggling with rebounding and defense, the Wolf Pack fought to stay ahead of the Mariners.

“We needed to rebound and stay in front of the ball better, they had too many easy lay ups,” said senior point guard, Jalen Gray.

With Gray and Johnny Griffin Jr. stepping up for the men, they were able to pull away with a nine point lead going into the final minutes of play.

With time on their side, Loyola kept their lead and overcame the Mariners, 83-78.

The men are now 14-7 overall and 7-5 in the Southern States Athletic Conference. The Wolf Pack take on Dalton State College on Feb. 2 in Dalton, Georgia.
