The game came down to the last few seconds in Saturday’s matchup between Loyola and Blue Mountain College.

It was neck and neck for the entire game with each team trying to break away and extend their lead.

In the final 20 seconds of the game, senior Jalen Gray was sent to the free throw line tying the game for the Wolf Pack.

With 14 seconds on the clock, Jay Howard for the Blue Mountain Toppers pulled up at the elbow and hit a bank shot to put his team up by two, leaving the Wolf Pack with 2.2 seconds remaining.

Trey LaForge, former Louisiana State University quarterback took the ball out of bounds at the Topper baseline and threw a direct pass to senior Johnny Griffin Jr. at the opposite three point line. With the crowd holding their breath, Griffin Jr. went up and caught the pass from LaForge.

Knowing he was short on time, Griffin Jr. quickly passed the ball to Nick Parker who was on the wing.

“I tried to get it to Nick because I know he’s a good shooter and he could have closed the game for us,” Griffin Jr said.

The Pack wasn’t able to convert in the final seconds and lost to the Toppers 62-60.

Gray led all scorers with 18 points and Griffin Jr. recorded another double-double, finishing with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

The Wolf Pack are now 5-5 in conference play and 12-7 overall. The Wolf Pack will have their next matchup on Jan. 26 against Brewton-Parker at First NBC Court at 7:30pm.
