Rizzo becomes first Loyola runner to qualify for nationals

Sophmore cross country runner, Anthony Rizzi qualified for the 2016 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics National Championships after finishing seventh in the Southern States Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships on Friday.

Rizzi clocked in with an impressive time finishing in 27:47, propelling him to the seventh place finish in a 51-runner field.

According to Loyola Athletics, Rizzi becomes the first Loyola runner to qualify for the NAIA National Championships since Haley Milsark last did in 2014.

Rizzi has consistently been a top runner for the Wolf pack this season finishing as the top runner for Loyola throughout multiple events.

He looks to continue this season’s success and build upon this momentum as he will compete in the NAIA National Championships on Nov. 19 in Elsah, Ill.
