It was in your arms

Late one night

That I broke down

Crying.

I whispered gently

“I miss my mom and dad so much…

I’m such a little kid still.”

And you held me tight

And you kissed my head

And you wiped up my tears

And you said I’d be alright.

And in that moment of self doubt and anxiety

You showed me your love

And out of my heart what once held a black bird

Flew out a pretty white dove

And after a few moments of tranquility

Accentuated by your hug

We looked up and saw them smiling down on us

From above.
