Brief: University approves revised curriculum for mass communication

The Standing Council for Academic Planning approved a revised curriculum for the School of Mass Communication.

This approval puts the School one step closer to seeking accreditation by the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism in Mass Communications.

“We believe this revised curriculum not only aids us in compliance for ACEJMC accreditation, but we believe it truly strengthens our program and really helps prepare our students as 21st century communicators,” said Sonya Duhé, director and professor of the School of Mass Communication.

The accreditation process will be a long one, according to Duhé. The School of Mass Communication plans to host an accreditation visit in 2014.
