Loyola gets jazzed for Wynton Marsalis

Wynton Marsalis greets faculty as he arrives at Loyola to perform on Monday, Oct. 22. Marsalis, a New Orleans native, is a world renowned trumpeter and composer who is now the Managing and Artistic Director of Jazz at Lincoln Center. He came to Loyola to perform a concert with his band and teach a master class as part of the Presidential Centennial Guest Series.

Mayor Mitch Landrieu and his wife Cheryl greet Meredith Hartley, public affairs director for Loyola as they walk into the event Monday night. The event drew people from all over the New Orleans community.

Wynton Marsalis meets Loyola president The Rev. Kevin Wildes S.J. in the green room before he goes on to perform. Wildes coordinated all of the speakers for the Presidential Centennial Guest Series.
