The Loyola baseball team began the season with six wins but were not able to finish the season with the same success. However, the Wolfpack finished with its second best winning percentage in four years.

The Wolfpack finished the season with a final overall record

of 18-33. With a conference record of 3-27, the team finished last in the Southern States Athletic Conference and, because of this, did not earn a bid to the SSAC Tournament for a chance to go to the NAIA World Series.

Loyola’s last series was against Southern Polytechnic University in which they lost the series 0-3. This came right after winning their previous three games against Southern Wesleyan and LSU Alexandria respectively.

After a season of high scoring games and tough loses, the Wolfpack struggled against a talented field of conference opponents. However, the ‘Pack ranked number 19 in its division in assists per game and 32nd in total assists with 526 for the year.

Standout players this season included first baseman marketing senior Evan Turkish, who played in every single game this season and was the team leader in batting average. Turkish also led the team in hits and was ranked 3rd in the division in putouts.

A standout pitcher in the rotation was finance junior Jeffery Castille who led the team in ERA among starting pitchers as well as wins. Both Slade Sanders and Karson Cullins ranked number 1 in the division in fielding percentage, ending the season without any errors.

Heading into next season, the team is losing six seniors: marketing major Lucas Wendt, management major Trey Campeaux, management major Slade Sanders, criminal justice major Chad Guidry, general business major George Smith and accounting major Brien Delahoussaye.

The team is losing the defensive presence of Wendt at third, two outfielders in Guidry and Sanders, as well as an infielder in Delahoussaye.

The ‘Pack is also losing two rotational pitchers, Campeaux and Smith.
