LUCAP plans to build & serve

The Loyola University Community Action Program has met and prepared for the fall semester with plans to give students the opportunity to do anything from volunteering, to building, to protesting. LUCAP adviser Joe Deegan has pushed forward the student service program along with LUCAP’s executive board for this semester’s events.

“Stay tune for we [LUCAP] are in the early stages of planning a trip to the School of Americas Watch Protest. Loyola has a historic connection with SOA and we always like to expose students to this event because it’s a real protest happening,” Deegan said.

LUCAP’s External Affairs Chairwoman Sabrina Hernandez and Internal Affairs Chairman Agustin Crespo are both excited for particular events of their own.

“I’m excited for the Salama USA Sales. It will happen during the window twice a month to help raise money for a school in Salama,” Crespo said.

“I’m excited for the meeting we will have at Loyola. I believe towards the end of September. We will have a discussion on the Defense of Marriage Act, the implications, and what we can expect to come from this discussion like what it means for gay marriage and gay rights in the United States,” Hernandez said.

According to Deegan, LUCAP executive board are still working on their projects and plans for this semester.
