Brief: Succesful British philosopher will speak at Loyola

On Wednesday at 7 p.m., British contemporary philosopher Roger Scruton will talk about religion in, “Our Church” at Loyola in Miller Hall 114.

Scruton will present three free public lectures on Tuesday, Oct. 1, and Wednesday, Oct. 2.

Scruton has written books on political theory, aesthetics, musicology, culture, religion and the environment.

On Tuesday, Oct. 1, at 5 p.m. at Louisiana State University, Scruton will discuss environmental ethics in, “How to Think Seriously About the Planet.”

On Wednesday, Oct. 2, 10:30 a.m. at the Historic New Orleans Collection, he will talk about aesthetics in, “Why Beauty Matters.”
