The Wolf Pack start the track and field season strong in their first meet

The Loyola track and field team competed in their first meet of the indoor season at the Emory Crossplex Invitational at Emory University in Birmingham, Alabama.

The team performed well, placing in the top 30 in numerous events.

Sophomore Meri Herbert finished with a time of 1:01.1 in the 400 meter dash and also earned a spot in the top-30.

Sophomores Taylor Hagins and Leah Banks both finished in the top-30 in shot put. Hagins captured the 24th spot with a throw of 9.83 meters and Banks clinched the 30th spot with 9.55 meters.

Banks also finished 17th in the long jump and sophomore Yesenia Davis took eighth place in the high jump with 1.52 meters.

Sophomore Anthony Rizzi finished in fifth place in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 16:28.20. Sophomore Melvin Bergeron finished in the top-20 in the 400 meter dash with a time of 52.94.

Senior Christian Lynch took home eighth in the long jump with 6.49 meters and 15th in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.73.
