The Loyola University men’s basketball team travelled to Mobile, Alabama for a Southern States Athletic Conference showdown against University of Mobile on Saturday Feb. 20, 2016,

Both teams would struggle to score early on, with only five combined baskets being made by both teams through the first eight minutes of play. Although Loyola would struggle to find an offensive rhythm in the first half, their defense was stifling and caused Mobile to have a hard time finding any shots.

The Wolf Pack would take a 22-13 lead into halftime on the back of sophomore guard Nick Parker, who scored 10 of the 22 first half points for Loyola.

The Wolf Pack would come out in the second half with crisper offensive execution while still maintaining their defensive intensity and stretch their lead to 16 points within the first five minutes of action and take a 30-14 lead.

Mobile would fight back from that deficit, going on an 8-0 run of their own to cutting the Wolf Pack lead to 30-22, but that is as close as the game would get. Loyola would extend its lead to 20 points with a 21-6 run to increase their lead to 51-28.

The Wolf Pack would go on to win 54-44, with Nick Parker leading the way with 23 points. The win brings the men’s basketball teams record to 14-11 and 9-7 in SSAC conference games.

The men’s basketball team will have a three-day break before travelling to Blue Mountain, Mississippi to play conference foe Blue Mountain College on Feb. 25.
