Senators sound off on election issues

ANNE SINGER

Anne Singer is a theater arts freshman and is running for senator of the College of Music and Fine Arts. She has said that SGA can improve communication with students through increased social media presence, and by utilizing news outlets such as The Maroon Minute. Singer said she does not believe that the budget deficit was managed effectively or thoughtfully on the part of the university. She said she believes that students deserve to be informed.

REID CANAL

Reid Canal is a vocal performance freshman and is running for the position of president of the College of Music and Fine Arts. Canal is currently the senator for the College of Music and Fine Arts. He believes that senators should have the freedom to communicate thoughts and concerns regarding SGA with the media. Canal also said that the constitution should not be adjusted frequently. If he is elected, Canal hopes to serve as an effective voice for the students in the College of Music and Fine Arts.

AMY PIRTLE

Amy Pirtle is a political science sophomore and is running for president of the College of Social Sciences. Pirtle is currently the senator for the College of Social Sciences. She believes that SGA is currently upholding its responsibilities to the student body, but that communication could still be improved through increased outreach. In order for students to become informed about current SGA business, Pirtle says that students should attend the various SGA meetings.

LINDSEY MIXER

Lindsey Mixer is a biology freshman and is running to continue her current position as senator of the College of Humanities and Natural Sciences. Mixer believes that students should attend SGA meetings or speak with members of Senate to become informed about current SGA business. She has also said that she does not think SGA currently operates autonomously, nor does she think that they ought to.

ANDREW DALTON

Andrew Dalton is an international business junior and is running to continue his position as senator of the College of Business. Dalton serves as SGA's representative on the Strategic Planning Team. He said students should be asking questions and providing the administration with feedback in a mature manner. The issue of communication between SGA and the student body is something that Dalton said is lacking.

CHAD MILTENBERGER

Chad Miltenberger is an international business junior and is running for senator of the College of Business. He said he believes that SGA Senators should be allowed to communicate directly with the media and share all pertinent information with their constituency. Miltenberger has said that the university's administration should be receptive to SGA representatives and listen to them as leaders of the community.
