PJ Morton to speak at music industry forum

Grammy Award winner and New Orleans native PJ Morton will introduce Loyola's aspiring artists and producers to their future in the music industry. The songwriter and producer, who has worked with platinum-selling artists like Jagged Edge, Monica and LL Cool J, will speak at the music industry forum Monday, April 7 at 5 p.m. in Nunemaker Hall.

Morton will also discuss potential business strategies for budding performers. Beginning at 6:30 p.m. after the forum, students can meet-and-greet Morton for a one-on-one tutoring session to workshop their writing and performance skills.

Morton started his career as a church pianist at eight and by 14, he started writing and producing his own material. While in high school, Martin, fascinated with artists ranging from The Beatles to Stevie Wonder, decided to pursue a career in the music industry. Morton, now 25, has not only gathered multiple writing and production credits, but has also independently released two albums - "Emotions" and "Perfect Song," fusing modern rock and R&B with a unique approach to pop.
