Last Thursday, Erik Traczyk was found guilty of first-degree murder of Loyola graduate alumna Nia Robertson.

The incident occurred in 2007 when Robertson was at Pal’s Lounge in Mid City. Traczyk, looking for his landlord who had evicted him, fatally slit Robertson’s throat and injured another patron. Police later found him on his apartment steps still holding the knife.

Following the incident, a scholarship for local students was created in Robertson’s name.
