With the attendance of over 13 Jesuit colleges from the Mid Eastern and Southern part of the country, Loyola New Orleans hosts the Heartland Delta conference on Feb. 22-24.

The conference, which rotates from each university with a different theme every year, will be presenting the theme of Eloquentia Perfecta. Eloquentia Perfecta, or perfect eloquence, is an early Jesuit teaching that is used to develop the form and content of an argument. The goal of the conference is to have the group of over 60 faculty members attending to develop their speech and writing so that they are used more effectively.

The conference will feature lectures on the eloquence of different subjects and will be given by many different professors from out of state and from Loyola. The conference will also have a screening of the film “Beasts of the Southern Wild” and an environmental tour of New Orleans led by Dr. Bob Thomas, professor of environmental communication.
